Loki RandomXL Fork
Why is Loki changing its hashing library?
This fork is a reinforcement of the Loki Team to decentralized mining on commodity hardware.
Recently, we’ve seen indications of hashrate centralization which reduces the network resilience. A few addresses control significant amount of hashrate representing a real threat of a 51% attack on the network. Moreover, the last algorithm change, favored the development of FPGA mining reducing the number of GPU and CPU miners further driving the centralization in the network.
At Luxor, we neglected to implement merged mining with TurtleCoin as forces miners to merge mine both coins in order to remain profitable and hampered Loki’s independence. There was no increased value in merge mining Loki and TurtleCoin.
Luckily, the Loki Team listened to their community and now they are switching their PoW hashing algorithm to a custom variant of RandomX. To avoid confusion, the Loki Team decided to name their hashing algorithm RandomXL.
We believe that this algorithm change will help to decentralize the network hashrate and allow small miners (CPU and GPU) to secure the Loki Network.
How to start mining?
Now that you know every about the fork let’s mine some Loki blocks.
You’ll need to download the following mining software:
- xmrig Beta 2.99 or above. You can find the latest release here.
We will udpate the list of available mining software’s as developers add support for the RandomX algorithm variant Loki uses.
Pool Stratums
Pick one of the Stratum nodes below (ensure it’s port 9999) based to your nearest location:
- USA - loki-us.luxor.tech:9999
- China - loki-cn.luxor.tech:9999
- Europe - loki-eu.luxor.tech:9999
- Asia - loki-asia.luxor.tech:9999
Connection Strings
Download the following config.json file and replace url and user to make it your own. Start by replacing "url": "loki-us.luxor.tech:9999"
with the closest Stratum node to your location.
Then you’ll need to specify your Loki Address or Luxor Account and Worker Name. To do so, navigate to "user": "Luxor.WorkerName"
and replace it with your Loki Address or Luxor Username. It should look something like this "user": "MyUsername.Rig1"
or this "user": "L9PkEzbWiEceu58zwqFHJWi5yu3UrzA8cLtnz7pnDUtGDju2Q2C1KTQdVtkqkne27EF8ope6LjZg33GJLv8ij38RE5QN3U6.Rig1
.
User Accounts
With User Accounts, there are enhanced security features to protect your mining operation while providing you greater control.
You can set custom payment threshold and request manual payouts from the UI, you dictate when you want to get paid. Set your payment threshold, rule over your mining.
We are working on adding new features to our User Accounts implementation like:
- Auto-exchange to BTC
- Email Notifications
- Custom payment intervals
We also support traditional private mining to Loki addresses. Setting up an account is not compulsory. At Luxor, we value and respect privacy.

Monitor revenue and miner performance
Once you’ve started hashing, grab yourself a beer! It’ll take about 5 minutes for your worker to appear on our stats page. To find your user, simply go to mining.luxor.tech and type in your wallet address at the top of the searchbar or login into your account. You should see something like this:
To make your life easier, we developed the smartest Mining Bot: Lifeguard. He is available 24/7 and always in a good mood to answer all of your questions and track your miners status and performance.
Happy Hashing!
